The reptile family includes snakes, alligators, lizards, turtles, and crocodiles. Reptiles are cold-blooded and breathe through their lungs, their dry, scaly skin prevents them from drying out. Amphibians and reptiles are often lumped together as herpetofauna, or “herps” for short.
